Jaigarh Fort

Jaigarh or the 'Fort of Victory' is perched on Chilh ka Tola (Hill of Eagles), 400 feet above the Amber Fortwas built in 1726 by Sawai Jai Singh and is very similar to Amber Fort. The fort features a cannon named “Jaivana”, which was manufactured in the fort precincts and was then the world's largest cannon on wheels. It took four elephants to swivel it around on its axis .The Fort also has three underground tanks, the largest one of which can store 60, 00,000 gallons of water. The palace complex (Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir and Aram Mandir) located within the fort has a well-tended garden where the royal family resided, the Shubhat Niwas (an assembly hall of the warriors), an armoury and a museum.

Hawa Mahal

Another spectacular monument overlooking the city, Hawa Mahal is known as the “Palace of Winds”. Built for women of the royal household could watch the streets below without being observed, is a historical site today. The exceptional architecture by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 is adjacent to the City Palace. The five-storey building is made of red sandstone and has around 900 jharokas or small screen windows.

City Palace

Upon visiting the magnificent City Palace, it's easy to see that the royal family of Jaipur was one of the richest in India. The huge complex of courtyards, gardens, and buildings blend both Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The Peacock Gate is exquisite, and contains an alluring display of detailed workmanship featuring bright peacocks. Today, the royal family lives in the graceful Chandra Mahal (Moon Palace) bordering the courtyard. Also inside the City Palace complex is a museum, art gallery, and interesting displays of royal costumes and old Indian weapons.

Amber (Amer) Fort and Palace

Jaipur tour can never be considered complete without a visit to the majestic Amber Fort. Built on the hilltop outside Jaipur, the construction of the Fort was started by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century and was completed by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th century. Set in a picturesque background, the splendid Amber Fort offers magnificent views of the surrounding area. Built in red stone and white marble, the Fort is a represents a fine blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture.

Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal of Jaipur is a pleasure palace built in the 18th century. Situated amidst the picturesque Mansagar Lake, the palace has the Nahargarh hills forming its backdrop. Jaipur Jal Mahal Palace is an architectural beauty and was meant to be used for the royal duck shooting parties. Developed as an enjoyment spot, it is entered through a causeway situated in the middle of Mansagar Lake. Jal Mahal of Jaipur, Rajasthan is a five-storey palace, with the first four floors being submerged under water. The Nahargarh Fort situated nearby offers a splendid view of the lake as well as the palace. You can also get magnificent views of the Jal Mahal place of Jaipur from Mansagar Dam on the eastern side of the lake. The Mansagar Lake is also a bird watcher's paradise as it serves as the home of a variety of local as well as migratory birds.

Nahargarh Fort

Originally known as Sudarshan Garh, Nahargarh or the Tiger fort was built in 1734 by jai Singh II. It was one of the first of the three forts built by the kings of Jaipur . A perfectly carved marble duck blind was constructed in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake that used by the Maharajas for hunting purposes. Strategically built to ward off enemy, is a 19th century masterpiece. There are nine apartments for the nine queens the Maharaja had and all are well planned and decorated. Nahargarh is also called the hunting residence of Maharajas
